Diamond Guide
All Norrfolks natural and lab-grown diamonds are carefully selected and undergo strict examination by certified gemologists, as well as, by our in-house team of educated diamond experts to always ensure the highest quality diamonds are used in our jewelry pieces. Our diamonds are graded according to the 4 C’s (Clarity, Color, Cut and Carat), the industry standard used to assess the rarity and quality of a diamond.
Clarity
Clarity refers to how many irregularities and inclusions a diamond has. Less light will come from the diamond if there are many inclusions. The rarity and value of the diamond increase as these imperfections are not visible to the naked eye.
Norrfolks uses a minimum standard clarity grade VS – which stands for very slightly included where inclusions cannot be seen with the naked eye.
FL IF | VVS1 VVS2 | VS1 VS2 | SI1 SI2 | I1 I2 I3 |
Internally Flawless | Very Very Slightly Included | Very Slightly Included | Slightly Included | Included |
Color
Color refers to the actual color of the diamond. The closer to being colorless the diamond is the higher the level of brilliance.
Norrfolks jewelry features color D-G diamonds, which are colourless to near colorless ensuring a great brilliance.
D-F | G-J | K-M | N-R | S-Z |
Colorless | Near Colorless | Faint | Very Light | Light |
Cut
Cut refers to the facets and their proportions on the surface. In a well proportioned diamond light enters from above and is reflected in all the facets of the bottom.
At Norrfolks, we only source excellent cut diamonds, providing the highest level of brilliance.
Excellent | Very Good | Good | Fair | Poor |
Ideal | Ideal | Shallow | Deep | Deep |
Carat
Carat refers to the actual weight measurement of the diamonds. The larger the diamond is the greater the rarity and therefore it is more valuable.
Norrfolks uses a standard of 0.25-1.00ct diamonds and offers larger diamonds on request.

Diamond Type
At Norrfolks we are passionate about diamonds dedicated in providing you with your ideal diamond, according to your individual preferences and specific requests. We like the idea of empowering you to choose a diamond that aligns with your values. We therefore offer both natural diamonds and lab-grown diamonds to be set in our jewelry.
Natural Diamonds
Natural diamonds are the result of carbon atoms that, when exposed to tremendous heat and pressure deep inside the earth, form into rough diamonds. Created billions of years ago, natural diamonds are extremely rare and finite. At Norrfolks, we guarantee to only use conflict-free natural diamonds in compliance with the Kimberley Process.
Lab-grown Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are diamonds that are cultivated from carbon atoms in laboratories. Sophisticated diamond labs recreate the same conditions that form natural diamonds under the ground to grow real diamonds that have the exact same chemical, physical and optical characteristics as natural diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds come with the benefit of being less expensive and are priced 30-50% lower than a natural diamond.
