From Seed to Diamond

Modern technology allows to grow real diamonds sustainably and responsibly in a controlled environment above the ground. While lab-created diamonds have the identical DNA (i.e. chemical, physical and optical properties) as mined diamonds, they come without the ethical and environmental issues surrounding traditional diamond mining. In 2018, the FTA expanded its definition of diamonds to classify lab-grown diamonds as “real” as mined diamonds.

The Growing Process

1. Similar to growing flowers in a greenhouse, diamonds are cultivated from a tiny carbon seed. Carbon is not only the building block of all known life, it is also the only component of a diamond.

2. Placed inside a plasma reactor reaching temperatures as hot as the sun, carbon atoms are growing into a diamond. It takes around two to three weeks to fully grow a diamond from seed to stone.

3. The lab-grown diamond is then quality-checked, cut into the desired shape and graded by certified gemologists. All diamonds above 0.3ct are laser-inscribed to certify its origin.

4. With the aim to produce diamonds as sustainable as possible, our factory utilises the power of green tech by running fully on energy created by windmill and solar panels.

Due to the large amount of soil being displaced, acid released into our ground waters and CO2 emitted into our atmosphere, mining is harming our planet at an alarming rate. Most mines are found in developing or underdeveloped countries where environmental regulations often don’t exist and human rights come too short. To date, only 1% of all diamonds are grown in lab.

Our type IIa diamonds are carefully selected to meet our high standards. All diamonds undergo strict examination by certified gemologists. The VS+ quality ensures highest clarity while our choice of D-F colorless stones means they’re perfectly transparent and sparkly.

Every piece is thoughtfully designed in our Stockholm Studio and handcrafted in Spain with meticulous attention to detail. We use the latest 3D printing technology to perfect our diamond designs. Each stone is carefully set by hand to ensure the best angle of light incidence for maximum sparkle.
